2023 Gender Equality progress

The Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector has published preliminary findings from the 2023 progress reports and audits, for all councils that have a duty under the Gender Equality Act. You can view these insights on the data portal by industry type and organisation.

Key achievements include a reduction in the gender pay gap to 9.1%, an increase in women CEOs from 39% to 44%, and growing parental leave participation among men from an average of 3.9 weeks to 5.2 weeks. These improvements demonstrate our sector's ongoing commitment to creating more equitable workplaces.
