Making ‘First Peoples local government relations’ a key priority in our new Strategic Plan is about action. Which is why it was so important to represent the sector at yesterday’s wonderful event launching the Treaty Authority at Melbourne Museum.
We look forward to collaborating with the Treaty initiatives in Victoria which are being led by the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria in partnership with the Victorian State Government, Victorian Traditional Owners, and Aboriginal Victorians.
Local government sector and local communities have a critical role in these conversations and the MAV is committed to supporting open, proactive, and ongoing dialogue between First Nations people and the local government sector that is purposeful, meaningful, thoughtful and fosters understanding.
