State Council

State Council is our governing body. It is made up of delegates from each member council.

The next meeting of the MAV State Council will be held at the Melbourne Town Hall, Swanston Street Melbourne on Friday 16 May 2025.
The agenda for this meeting will be published on this page on Wednesday 16 April 2025.

State Council’s powers include:

  • determining the Rules of the Association
  • electing the president and other members of the Board
  • determining our strategic direction
  • appointing the auditor.

Decision-making

State Council meets twice a year, or more if needed.

Members can submit business to be considered by State Council in accordance with the MAV Rules.

Delegates vote on matters before State Council.
